Cyndi Lauper announces farewell tour

The Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour, described as her first major road trip in a decade, will begin in Montreal and end in Chicago.

Cyndi Lauper is retiring from touring. The "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" singer-songwriter announced a farewell tour Monday morning, marking her final national journey through 23 cities in North America this fall.

Lauper has not provided a statement explaining her decision to embark on a farewell tour at this time, but she is expected to discuss it later this week as she promotes her new documentary, "Let the Canary Sing," which premieres on Paramount+ Tuesday.

The Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour, her first major tour in a decade, will start on October 18 in Montreal and conclude on December 5 at Chicago’s United Center. Notable arena dates include New York’s Madison Square Garden on October 30, Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on November 1, L.A.’s Intuit Dome on November 23, the Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert on November 24, and San Francisco’s Chase Center on November 26. Additionally, she will perform a non-arena show at Detroit’s Fox Theatre on October 24. (Scroll down for a complete list of tour dates.)

Tickets will be available through an artist presale on Tuesday, followed by other presales, with the general sale starting Friday at 10 a.m. local time on LiveNation.com.

Opening acts will be announced later.

"Let the Canary Sing," directed by Alison Ellwood, premiered at Tribeca last year and will be available on Paramount+ in the U.S. and Canada starting Tuesday. On the same day, Lauper will participate in a handprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood and attend a private premiere of the film at the theater complex, followed by a Q&A session. On Wednesday, she will discuss the documentary and the farewell tour on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"
